While we were able to fund this initial recording process for "Crosstie" on our own and with the generous support of some amazing friends and family members, to create an album of songs with full production and studio quality, studio costs add up quickly. We've got a collection of great songs ready to record - this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating our first ever, professionally produced studio album. Now, all that’s left is to perfect these tunes in the studio to reach a large audience that we feel certain is waiting for what we have to offer.
We’ve made a series of informal recordings, featuring traditional and original songs. We got together whenever and wherever possible and developed a unique band sound of three-part vocal harmonies and some fine accompaniment on fiddle, banjo, mandolin, guitar and clarinet. Mason and Georgia, John’s two children, are fine musicians in their own right.Ībout 10 years ago, John was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease - a progressive and incurable movement disorder.
In another way, we are just getting started! Dad (John Lilly) enjoyed a long and varied career as a solo artist, songwriter, clog dancer and a member of several successful bands. We are a three-piece family band, and in a casual sense we have been playing together for many years. Hello world from The Lillys, a new band based here in beautiful West Virginia!
